1915 — Kentville, Nova Scotia

1915 leans a bit milder, but winter still makes itself known. January is the coldest month overall, averaging -8.7°C, and it brings the most snow too, over 50 cm. On January 21, more than 21 cm falls in a single day. It’s the kind of snowfall that slows everything down for a bit. Then February 2 dips even colder, reaching -22.8°C, the lowest point of the year.

Through the rest of the year, things feel fairly steady. There’s 618 mm of rain in total, with October taking the lead at just under 100 mm. The heaviest rainfall comes earlier though, on August 2, when 43.2 mm falls in one day. A late summer downpour like that can feel sudden, like the sky opened without much warning.

Summer itself is warm but not extreme. July is the hottest month, averaging 23.7°C, and September brings the highest daily temperatures, reaching 28.3°C on both the 9th and 17th. It’s a bit of a late-season warmth again, the kind that makes you pause and notice it.

Across the Atlantic, there was a bit of activity, with 14 systems forming. This included 6 tropical storms, 5 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes. But none of them reach Atlantic Canada.

The average temperature settles at 6.3°C, which is equal to jade.
