1922 in Kentville, Nova Scotia was a bit of a mixed bag. Lots of rain, a bit of snow, and temperatures that varied from one extreme to the next.

Winter blanketed Kentville with a total of 207.2 cm of snow. In December alone, an incredible 101.3 cm fell, which was nearly half of the year's snowfall. The largest snowfalls happened twice. First, on February 16 and then again December 29, when 25.4 cm fell on each day.

Despite the snowy finish, January was the coldest month, averaging -11.4°C, while the coldest temperature of the year arrived just before Christmas at -25.6°C on December 20.

Summer was especially wet, reaching 858.3 mm over the year. July (143.0 mm) and August (141.2 mm) both brought frequent rain before October became the wettest month with 146.8 mm. The single biggest downpour arrived on August 8, when 57.2 mm of rain fell in one day.

August was the warmest month, averaging 24.2°C, while both June and July averaged 23.4°C. The hottest day of the year reached 30.6°C on June 8, with another 30.0°C day following on July 13.

Overall, the year's average temperature was 6.1°C, placing it in the Jade colour range of my temperature blanket palette.

Although the 1922 Atlantic hurricane season produced nine named storms, none reached Atlantic Canada. That meant Kentville's weather was shaped by local systems instead of tropical storms, leaving behind a year remembered more for persistent rain, deep winter snow, and a warm summer than for dramatic weather events.
